Low-Temp Fusible Alloys

Fusible Alloys melt at temperatures from 117-338° F.  Certain fusible alloys have little or no volume change upon solidification, making them valuable for foundry mold patterns or proofing die cavities.  Other alloys expand during solidification, giving good gripping action for anchoring metal fixtures for machining, plastic and glass lenses for surfacing or thin-walled tube bending.  Low-temp fusible alloys are also used to cast fuse links for fire sprinklers and cast oncology shielding blocks.  281 alloy made into wire form is a good option for soldering together pieces of pewter and stained glass products.
