Questions about Storage Containers

What makes a storage container anti-static?

An anti-static container is made of conductive or static dissipative material, so static can't build up on the box or on the parts inside it. The Quantum grid containers here are conductive, carbon-filled polypropylene with a surface resistivity below 10⁵ ohms per square, and washing doesn't change that. The Protektive Pak storage containers are static dissipative corrugated, at 10⁶ to under 10⁹ ohms. Quantum's advice is to ground the containers to suit how you use them.

Do the ESD grid containers take dividers?

Yes. The Quantum conductive grid containers divide every 1-1/8 inches, along the length, the width or both. The dividers and snap-on lids are conductive too, and they're sold separately. Send the container's part number through RapidQuote and we'll quote the matching dividers and lid.

Can I ship parts in these ESD containers?

Yes. Protektive Pak makes its dissipative corrugated containers for shipping, handling and storage, and they assemble without tape, glue or staples. On the Quantum grid containers, snap-on covers keep out dust and protect the parts in shipping and storage. Lids, handles and a dissipative foam base pad for the Protektive Pak containers are sold separately through RapidQuote.

Do you sell ESD bins?

Yes. The Quantum conductive plastic bins we list come in three sizes, sold by the carton, and they hang from rails or louvered panels. The Protektive Pak dissipative corrugated open bin boxes come in eight sizes. Both are in our Bins category, along with plain plastic bins for parts that don't need ESD protection.
