These industrial workbench lighted magnifier lamps provide outstanding performance for a range of manufacturing, assembly, and inspection tasks. Soldering miniature & SMT components is easiest to do while soldering underneath the industrial magnifying glass. A 3-diopter lens gives you 1.75X magnification, while a 5-diopter lens magnifies your parts by 2.25X.
Our portable UV (Ultraviolet light) magnifier is ideal for the inspection of coatings, joints, and surfaces, or for medical purposes.
Questions about Magnifier Lamps
What magnification do I need for soldering?
Most of our magnifier lamps use a 5-diopter lens, which magnifies 2.25 times and focuses about 8 inches from the lens, so there's room to work underneath it. If you need more room than that, the Vision-Luxo LFM with a 3-diopter lens magnifies 1.75 times and focuses about 13 inches away. As a general rule, choose the lowest diopter strength that still gets the job done for your specific task, to maximize your comfort and field of view.
Will a magnifier lamp mount on my workbench?
Yes. The Aven lamps clamp to the bench on an articulated arm that reaches 32 to 36 inches. The Vision-Luxo LFM lamps clamp to the edge of the bench on a 45-inch spring-balanced arm. The Burton UV503 is a hand-held inspection lamp.
What light does a magnifier lamp use?
Most of ours use LEDs. The Aven Mighty Vue Pro adjusts from warm to cool white, the ProVue SuperSlim gives a cool white light, and the ProVue MAX switches between white and UV LEDs. The Vision-Luxo LFM has a ring of LEDs that dims in steps and switches itself off. The Burton UV503 uses two UV-A and two white fluorescent bulbs, for inspecting solder joints and conformal coatings.
Should I use a magnifier lamp or a microscope?
Use a magnifier lamp when you're working under magnification, soldering or assembling with tools in your hands. Use a microscope when you need a close look at a finished joint, such as a surface-mount joint in quality control. There's a side-by-side comparison, and the microscopes are here.
Do you sell magnifying glasses you wear for soldering?
We can source loupes for soldering, though we don't list them online. We don't source visors. Send the brand or part number through RapidQuote.
