Brazing Rods & Ribbon
Brazing is a method of metal joining with greater mechanical strength than soldered joints. Brazing alloys flow at 1175° to over 1700°F while tin-based solders flow at temperatures of just 361° to 600°F.
WHAT IS SIL-FOS MADE OF?
The Sil-Fos family of alloys (formerly available also as Silvaloy brazing rods) is made mostly of Copper with a little Phosphorous added, usually containing various amounts of Silver. When joining copper-to-copper parts the phosphorous serves as the fluxing agent requiring no separate liquid flux. Sil-Fos 5 and 15 have Silver added for additional gap filling of parts.
